FAQ

The exam is challenging. However, the level of difficulty depends on several factors, such as how well the test taker has prepared, their experience with test taking, and critical thinking skills. The exam tests more than rote knowledge. It also includes questions that require the test taker to apply situational knowledge and choose the best answer from more than one correct answer.

The best way to begin preparing for the exam is to read the PMP Exam Handbook and Exam Content Online found on the PMI website. These documents provide information on eligibility, how to correctly complete the application, and timelines to manage your study time. I would also begin to review the PMBOK® Guide and attend an Exam Prep Course. This supplements the PMBOK® Guide and allows you to hear a real-world instructor’s perspective, as well as collaborate with other potential PMPs.

Yes, the PMP is worth it. The PMP is internationally well-respected as the top project management certification. Some of the benefits may include an increase in salary, demonstrated skills to provide project excellence, as well as job security.

All PMP prep courses recognized by PMI must be taught by an approved PMI instructor. The best course is one that sets you up for exam success, sharing tips on how to breakdown the PMBOK® Guide and apply its knowledge to exam questions, as well as real-world project management examples. We think our instructors are the best! They bring a wealth of facilitation and they are seasoned Program and Project Managers as part of their job. We use the PMI ATP Authorized Prep Course, but also go beyond that information to provide important tips on what to expect from the exam and how to study to feel prepared. Not only do we provide this valuable information, but the instructor is open to support each student in their journey to pass the exam after the course is over. We love hearing from our participants, as newly minted PMPs!

Yes, you can self-study for the exam. However, to maximize your time, boost your knowledge, and percentage of passing the first time, you should attend a PMI approved exam prep course. An exam prep course provides the tools for better study techniques and focuses on what is important for the exam. You also receive support from a Project Management certified instructor.
