PMP Exam Prep FAQ

Who should take this course?

This bootcamp is for entry- and mid-level project managers, and anyone who works on projects and wants to earn the PMP. You’ll learn the exam’s structure, how it’s scored, and how to study for it.

What do I need before I can take the PMP exam?

PMI requires 35 hours of project management education plus project experience. The exact experience rules depend on your education. Start with the PMP Exam Handbook on the PMI website, which explains eligibility and how to apply.

Does it matter where I take my 35 hours?

Yes, and more than before. Starting in late 2026, PMI will count live training only if it comes from a PMI Authorized Training Partner, a China Registered Education Provider, or an eligible accredited academic program. Edwards is a PMI Authorized Training Partner. Training you finished before PMI’s start date still counts.

Is the PMP exam hard?

It’s challenging. How hard it feels depends on how well you prepare, your experience with tests, and your critical thinking. The exam goes beyond memorizing. Many questions describe a situation and ask you to choose the best answer from several that could be right.

Is the PMP worth it?

For most project professionals, yes. PMI’s salary survey has found that PMP holders in the U.S. earn a median salary about 25% higher than those without it. The PMP is recognized around the world, and demand for skilled project managers keeps growing.

How should I start preparing?

Read the PMP Exam Handbook and the Exam Content Outline on the PMI website. Then review PMI’s guides and take an exam prep course. A course gives you a real instructor’s view and a group of people studying for the same goal.

Can I study for the PMP on my own?

Yes, you can self-study. But a PMI-approved prep course helps you use your time well, focus on what matters for the exam, and raise your chances of passing the first time, with a certified instructor to answer questions.

Can you train our whole team?

Yes. We run private classes for teams, online or on-site, including in cleared facilities. We also offer shorter project management courses, from half a day to five days. Contact us to plan a class for your group.
